Shuffleboards are generally kept away from windows because of the inconsistencies associated with the daily change in temperature from the direct exposure from the sun. The sun will dry the silicone spray that you apply to the playfield to keep the powdered wax on for consistent speed. And it will flatten or even crown a board during the day, and then the board will play differently at night. That can be very frustrating trying to learn shots on a board. Inconsistencies will force a player to play more basic shuffleboard, meaning use more speed to hit pucks and hope you can find a lag somewhere on the board that is consistent. So if you can avoid locate your board near windows or where it will get direct sunlight you will have a better playing experience
