  Shuffleboard Care and Maintenance

1: Shuffleboard Table room location

The shuffleboard table generally should be kept away from windows because of the inconsistencies associated with the daily change in temperature and sun exposure. The sun will dry the silicone spray that you apply to the playfield to keep the powdered wax on for consistent speed. And it will flatten or even crown a board during the day, and then the board will play differently at night. That can be very frustrating if you are trying to learn shots on a board.   If you can avoid locating your board near windows or where it will get direct sunlight you will have a better playing experience

2: Climatic Adjusters

  1. An adjuster is not recommended to correct a wary surface if your surface is not flat it will need to be (professionally resurfaced in the usual manor)
  2. You can not buy one of the non professional games made with a top that is poorly machined or made with an inferior improper material and expect the adjusters alone will give you professional play
  3. These adjusters will also not work on tops having open glue lines between the seams, or Tops not made of the proper thickness. (a minimum of 1.5 inch are recommended)

Check the shuffleboard tabletop every few weeks and adjust as necessary.  Usually boards are set up with a slight concave in them but some people prefer a perfectly flat board. (See the picture below with a straight edge across the surface)  It is recommended that you can slide a piece of standard paper under the center of the straight edge as shown below. However on the outside edges the paper would not pass under the straight edge. This is a general rule when first setting up a board. Next slide some pucks down the table and see how they drift or how much they drift in towards the middle of the board.   Then adjust to your personal preference.

3: Wax or prepare surface for play

Before waxing a board for the first time, it should be cleaned with a shuffleboard Cleaner or Polish. We recommend the brand Triple Crown Cleaner Polish This product is designed to remove foreign matter from the surface of the board.

1. Apply Triple Crown Cleaner Polish or other brand if you choose with a towel. Before the surface dries, buff lightly using a dry towel. This should be repeated 2 to 3 time a month depending on how often the board is used.

2. Triple Crown Liquid Wax should also be applied with a towel. Application for the wax is identical to application of the polish. Repeat instructions above, buffing lightly with a dry towel until the surface is as smooth as ice. Once again, depending on the use of the board, 2 to 3 times per month is usually recommended.

3. For ULTIMATE SPEED you may now apply Triple Crown Silicone Spray.
Apply and let is set for 15 minutes before buffing lightly.
DO NOT try to improve on these instructions by allowing drying or by using a buffer!
DO NOT use furniture polish or silicone spray that is not specifically for shuffleboards.
For best results follow the above instructions. You are now ready to apply Triple Crown Speed Powder or another brand of powder.
